Protecting young generations against drug threats(06-18-2018)

On June 16th, 2018, in Hanoi, a meeting in response to the action month for drug control and prevention 2018 took place and gathered a large number of students. Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam attended and had a speech at the event. The meeting saw the attendance of Deputy Minister of Public Security Le Quy Vuong, Deputy Minister of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Thi Ha, representatives from the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, the Vietnam National Committee for Prevention and Control of AIDS, Drugs and Prostitution, and leaders of relevant ministries and more than 400 students.

Vietnam prioritises ensuring rights of female labourers (06-08-2018)

From May 28th to June 8th, in Geneva, about 5,000 delegates, including representatives from governments, workers and employers from 187 member countries of ILO attended the 107th International Labour Conference. The delegation of Vietnam participated in the 107th International Labour Conference included the representatives of the Tripartite Mechanism, the Government (Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs), labourers (Vietnam General Confederation of Labour) and the employer (Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Vietnam), the ambassador Duong Chi Dung, Vietnam's Permanent Mission to the United Nations, World Trade Organization (WTO) and other international organizations in Geneva.

Bloomberg Philanthropies Foundation cooperates on child drowning prevention(06-04-2018)

On June 01st, 2018, in Hanoi, Ministry of Labour – Invalids and Social Affairs, Bloomberg Philanthropies and the Global Health Policies Advocacy Organization of the USA signed the MOU and Agreement on coopertion of child drowning prevention for Vietnamese Children. Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Ha attended and chaired the signing ceremony. Attending the event were Leadership representatives from the Department of Child Affairs, Department of International Cooperation, Ministry’s Office, Department of Plan and Finance.

Activities held to provide better care for children(06-04-2018)

Many activities were held across Vietnam on June 1 on the occasion of International Children’s Day and the Action Month for Children. The steering board for public health care and protection target programme of northern Ha Nam province organised numerous delegations to visit and present gifts to local children, and supervise the implementation of Micronutrient Day. On this occasion, the province offers vitamin A supplements to 52,100 children aged from 6-36 months old. The provincial Department of Labour - Invalids and Social Welfare launched the Action Plan for Children, with the aim to provide support for poor children and those who are victims of violence and abuse.

Launching Action month for children 2018 (05-28-2018)

On May 27th, 2018, in Phu Tho, the Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs launched the 2018 Action month for children, themed “For children’s safe and healthy living”. The campaign sets to promote the children’s rights to protection, respect and living in a safe and healthy environment in the digital era. Attending the Ceremony were Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh; Mrs. Nguyen Thuy Anh, Head of the NA’s Committee for the social issues; Deputy Minister of Labour – Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Thi Ha; Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Thi Nghia and Leadership Representatives from the locality, relating ministries, sectors, international organizations and more than 350 children on behalf of nearly 26 million children in Vietnam.

Reforms to ensure social insurance key pillar in social security system(05-26-2018)

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on May 23 signed the Resolution 28-NQ/TW on reforming social insurance policies, issued at the recent seventh session of the 12th-tenure Party Central Committee. Reforming social insurance policies is aimed at ensuring social insurance is truly a key pillar in the social security system and to gradually expand its coverage for all people, according to a resolution of the Party Central Committee.

Promoting gender equality through revision of the Labour Code(04-28-2018)

On April 26, over 80 experts from governmental agencies, local organizations international organizations, and academia gathered in Ha Noi for the workshop "General Consultation on Gender Mainstreaming and Gender Impact Assessment of the Proposal to Revision Viet Nam’s Labor Code”. The event was jointly held by Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA), UN Women and the Australian Embassy.

Consultation seminar on reporting research on multidimensional child poverty measurement in Vietnam(04-25-2018)

On April 24th, 2018, in Hanoi, Ministry of Labour – Invalids and Social Affairs in collaboration with UNICEF in Vietnam held the consultation seminar on reporting research on multidimensional child poverty measurement in Vietnam. Attending the seminar were Deputy Minister of Labour – Invalids and Social Affairs Le Tan Dung; Mrs. Lesley Miler – Vice Head Representative of UNICEF in Vietnam; Mr. Ngo Truong Thi – Director General, Head of National Office on Poverty Reduction; representatives from the Ministries, sectors, agencies and experts on multidimensional in Vietnam.
