Addressing the Meeting, Minister Dao Ngoc Dung said that the Vietnam – Lao Ministerial Meeting on Labour and Social Welfare took place in the context of the comprehensive cooperation between the two countries have been growing. The cooperation have contributed a part of the successful implementation of the Joint Statement signed on February 25, 2019 in Vientiane between the General Secretary, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong and the General Secretary and the President Bounnhang Vorachith of Lao PDR.
Sharing some outstanding achievement of Vietnam's Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs sector in 2018, Minister Dao Ngoc Dung said that the whole sector has achieved many positive results, exceeded the targets assigned by the National Assembly and the Government and contributed to comprehensively complete 12 socio-economic development targets.
According to Minister Khampheng Saysompheng, Lao Minister of Labour and Social Welfare, the Meeting was held in the context that the two countries have strengthened comprehensive cooperation on the base of friendship, special solidarity and cooperation between the two Parties, the two States and people of the two countries Laos – Vietnam. Cooperation on Labour and social welfare has become more and more inclusive and concrete. The 6th Meeting between the two Ministries is an expression of the solidarity, sharing in order to promote the cooperation between Laos and Vietnam to become growing and achieving more achievements.
At the Meeting, representatives of the two ministries discussed on the reports focused on sharing information and updating new laws and policies on Labour, employment, human resource training and welfare of Vietnam and Laos, as well as evaluating the implementation of Minutes of the 5th Ministerial meeting on Labour and Social Welfare of the Vietnam – Laos in 2017. The two sides agreed on the cooperation between the two country in the field of Labour and social welfare will continue growing in scale and quality, in diversified forms, become practical and better adapt with the socio-economic development requirements of each country.
In the field of labour, Minister Dao Ngoc Dung highly appreciated and asked the Lao Ministry of Labour and Welfare and relating agencies to continue to facilitate Vietnamese workers to work in investment projects and construction projects in Laos. The Minister affirmed that in the coming time, the Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs and Vietnamese agencies will work closely with Lao agencies in strengthening cooperation in communicating information about regulations and laws of the two countries related to the management of foreign workers; at the same time, instructing relevant Vietnamese enterprises to implement the Agreement, creating a link between related enterprises of Vietnam and Laos to cooperate in labour supply.
Vocational training work between the two Ministries was promoted through sharing experiences, training, preparing for 24 contestants and experts of the Lao Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare to attend the 12th ASEAN Skills Competition in Thailand and short-term training for 15 Lao vocational teachers. In addition, the universities of the Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs actively exchanged delegations, boosted cooperation on human resource development with Lao training institutions, especially in provinces sharing border with Vietnam ....
“In the coming time, the two Ministries continue to strengthen cooperation on improving staff capacity, through delegation exchange, experts, experience sharing, staff training, human resource development. In the field of social welfare, the two sides will share experiences on social insurance, the field of care for people with merit.” Minister Dao Ngoc Dung said.
Minister Dao Ngoc Dung expressed his gratitude for the efforts and cooperation of Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare and related agencies of Laos in the search and collection of the remains of Vietnamese volunteers in Laos. In the coming time, the two Ministers affirm to diversify and expand cooperation between the two countries in the areas of social protection, child protection and care, support for people with disabilities and the elderly. ..
With the results achieved in the past years, the 6th Vietnam-Laos Ministerial Meeting on Labour and Social Welfare marked significant efforts on cooperation in the field of Labour and social welfare of the two countries in general and the relationship between the two Ministries in particular, which contribute to the implementation of the commitments of the two Leaders, two parties, and promote the special traditional solidarity friendship between the Party, State and People of the two countries.
At the Meeting, under the authorization of the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Minister Dao Ngoc Dung awarded Friendship Medal of the Vietnam’s State to the Departments, Institutes and Centers of the Lao Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare.
Lao Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare awarded certificates of merit to Leaders of Departments, the Directorate under the Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs of Vietnam.
