Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Ha receives Global Chief of Child protection of UNICEF

On April 18th, 2018, at the Head Office of the Ministry of Labour – Invalids and Social Affairs, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Ha had a cordial meeting with Mr. Cornelius William – Global Chief of Child protection of UNICEF. Attending the meeting were Leaders of the Department of International Cooperation, Department of Children Affairs, Department of Social Assistances and relevant units under the Ministry.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Ha welcomed Mr. Cornelius William and his colleagues, as well as highly appreciated the companion and cooperation between MOLISA and UNICEF for the past time in the work of child care and protection and social work development.

Sharing at the meeting, Mr. Cornelius William thanked the Deputy Minister for the warm welcome. According to Mr. Cornelius William, Vietnam is the country having many progress of poverty reduction which has the good effect to children. He said that international community appreciated the effort of Vietnam in implementation of the goals on child care and protection and development social work, namely, the program, legal framework implemented for the past time. However, there are many difficulties, challenges. He committed to continue support Vietnam’s Government and MOLISA in the work of child care and protection as well as social work development in Vietnam in order to bring the best thing to Vietnamese children and strengthen technical support for social work development in Vietnam.

According to Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Ha, recently, Vietnam has actively participated in the activities as the member of ACWC with many contents of the role of coordinating on child care and protection. In the coming time, MOLISA also identify many important priority issues in this field, especially, mainstreaming children’s issues into socio-economic development; create the opportunity for poor children, vulnerable children to access to the good environment as other children. Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Ha wished to receive the attention, cooperation and support from the UNICEF in all areas and promote the cooperation of Vietnamese agencies with UNICEF.
