The event was jointly organised by the Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA), Defence Ministry, Ministry of Public Security, Nhan Dan Newspaper and the Hanoi municipal People’s Committee to mark the 70th anniversary of Wounded and Fallen Soldiers Day (July 27, 1947-2017).
At the conference, Minister of Labour – Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung announced that during 70 years, the Party, State and the community have always payed attention on the gratitude. The legal document system on preferential people with special contribution to the Country has been researched, built and issued comprehensively, completely and timely. The regime of preferential is improving in accordance with the assurance of fairness and social consensus.
According to a report by the MOLISA, over 9 million national contributors have been identified, with more than 1.2 million fallen soldiers, 127,000 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and over 800,000 wounded soldiers. Over the past five year, the relevant agencies, units and organisations have collected 75,000 sets of the remains of Vietnamese martyrs, of which 16,613 were found in Laos and 15,148 in Cambodia.
The implementation of policies, towards people who contributed meritorious services to the revolution of all levels and branches, basically met the set target with 97% of households whose people with special contribution to the revolution have the living standard equal or higher than the living standard of the resident.
At the conference, 70 outstanding individuals were presented with the Prime Minister’s certificate of merit, whilst 630 others received certificates of merit from the MOLISA.
Addressing the conference, on behalf of the Party, State and Government, the Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc expressed his deep gratitude for war veterans, war invalids, former youth volunteers and their families, for their huge contributions to the national construction and defence.
Expressing his admiration and appreciation of the delegates’ stories at the conference, the Government leader said honourees are shining examples of the extraordinary will and energy, as well as the persistent efforts and strides to overcome all difficulties in contributing to the nation.
The Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc expressed his hope that national contributors would continue to uphold the revolutionary spirit and act as a positive example for younger generations to follow.
The Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc affirmed that the Party and State have always paid great attention to directing the implementation of the gratitude work to national contributors.
The central ministries, branches and localities will continue to complete preferential policies supporting contributors to the nation, as well as focusing on commending revolutionary achievements, particularly the award of the title ‘Heroic Vietnamese Mothers’, the Prime Minister noted.
